Valentine's Day Project Idea

If you are like me, you are always looking out for original ideas for Valentine's Day that will improve the home and your relationships. My wife didn't like the shower head in the master bath that came with the house. It is probably the same crumby one that the builders installed when they built the house. Not enough pressure. Difficult to adjust. Not a broad enough hot water spray for cold days in February. Does your crumby shower head look like the one at the left?
This is an opportunity for a great project that can set the stage for a very happy ending to Valentine's Day. Replacing the shower head is low cost, quick, easy and original way to bring comfort into the home.

The first step to replacing a shower head is removing the old one. Often, you can remove it by hand by turning it counterclockwise to loosen and then remove it. If that doesn't work, then try gripping the shower arm with pliers - being careful to protect the finish on the shower arm with some type of soft material between the metallic finish and the metal pliers. Then use an adjustable wrench to loosen and unscrew the old shower head. Pretty easy.
Second step is to install the new shower head. First, make sure the threads on the shower arm are clean of any rust or other contaminants. Then wrap thread seal tape in a clockwise direction two or three times around the threads of the shower arm. Then screw the new shower head onto the shower arm in a clockwise direction and tighten. Turn on the water and check for leaks. If leaks occur, re-wrap with thread seal tape and carefully tighten with an adjustable wrench until there are no leaks. One -two and you are done.

Replacing the shower head is quick and easy with simple tools but we don't have to let everyone know just how quick and easy it really is. There are a seemingly infinite variety of shower heads to choose from. You should match the finish against the other fixtures in your shower. But ordering online and having the fixture delivered to the office is a snap from many major retailers. With just a few quick keyword entries you can pick a new fixture that is bigger and likely has more water pressure due to innovations of the past decade. What a warm, wonderful and unique Valentine's gift. Nobody else at your lady's gym will have gotten this gift. It worked for me and it can work for you.
